Dedication

I was looking forward to a bit of theater today with the shed dedication but the turnout to the spring meeting was very poor and I don’t think they’d have quite understood, so I gave the shed a private dedication in the late afternoon sunshine when everyone had gone. This was the dedication poem I’d composed. In the end it didn’t make a lot of sense as, despite the forecast and thick snow on the ground when we woke up, the afternoon was fantastic with not the slightest sign of sleet, and we’d already had tea and cake, but I’m sure the shed appreciated the gesture.

The wetness on the roof is where the last of the snow melted. I had the stove going at a roar and although it was chilly outside with the north wind whipping through briskly, it was toasty inside.

I’d made a little bunch of twigs that I’d gathered from the hedge trees, oak, pine, thorn and yew, and yes, I was careful to ask the trees’ permission, and it’s sitting on the door frame guarding the threshold now.
