Chocolate Digestives with John the Baptist

I wonder if John the Baptist
would have been a fan of decking.
He’d have felt himself at home
in Derek Jarman’s garden I’m sure,

but what would he have thought
about Diarmuid Gavin. It would be good
to have seen John’s Chelsea garden,
though I don’t suppose he’d have done

Chelsea would he. How would
the conversation have gone with him
and Geoff Hamilton, the two of them
easy in the evening sun, each

insisting that the other take
the last chocolate digestive. Would
he have sniggered at Alan Titchmarsh
when he came in with a plate?
